Five Foot Broadway is an incubation program for new musicals. Founded by Kenneth Lyen, the objective of the program is to encourage more people to write musicals. The benefit of the program is that they match writers with composers, and to aid in the creative process they are looking for experienced people to mentor these writing teams. This year, 2005, they performed 5 new musicals as a no-frills raw reading (no sets, no costumes, no choreography, in a black box setting). It was part of Singapore Festival of Arts fringe 2005. Next year, 2006, they plan to incubate 16 new musicals. The best 1 or 2 musicals will be chosen by a panel of judges for full staging (sets, costumes, props, choreography) in a larger theatre. By participating in the incubation program, you will be joining some of the best writers, composers and musicians in Singapore. For more information, visit the official website. |
